Day 13: Enjoying the moment

Today's inane image of the day:

Dinner at what crepe was fabulous! Great company, great food, great times.
Last night I decided to take a well-deserved break to enjoy a tasty dinner and some drinks overlooking Royal Oak nightlife. I had a great time and it definitely helped motivate me to get back to studying today.

Something that I've slowly begun to come to terms with is that stressing out about studying or getting things done usually is a lot more counterproductive than just deciding to call it quits for the day/night or doing something else. Although sometimes I feel guilty neglecting my books for a night out or just closing my laptop to get some shuteye, in the long run, I think things will work out.

Or, I can just revert to my original mentality on life -- stress out about everything.

I also have come to realize that I do too much thinking about the future -- while there is definitely a healthy dose of planning what could theoretically happen in the next decade, there's no point in worrying about it when I am not living in that time yet. I will never be able to just turn off that part of me that sketches out different pathways that my life could take, but at least now I can be more aware of when I should just stop looking forward and enjoy the here and now.

Need to get back to studying so I can go for a jog and shopping later!

Yeah, I'm with you on that whole needing-to-not-always-be-working thing. My problem is that my list of things to do with my time besides research currently consists entirely of items that start with "Work on...".

Love your blog. I also decided to start blogging at the beginning of medical school to keep a record of my experiences immediately after they happened. It's so rewarding to look back on it now. Keep writing!

@Kyle: Your to do list should go: "Start on...", "Begin...", "Complete..." -- these are much more optimistic terms...

@Shara: Thanks for coming by!
